Mr. Canfield, Lowell is lucky to have Greg Pierce? I have personally witnessed Greg Pierce on his way into work at times between 8:10am and 8:18am. I consistently see this 2, 3 and sometimes 4 times a week!!!! I assume that Greg is to start working at 8am like the rest of the employees that he insists on tracking with a time-clock. I have also witnessed Lowell Light and Power company pick-ups stopping at various gas stations around Lowell getting coffee and snacks, ect. I have been told that our Lowell Light and Power employees were not allowed to stop at the gas stations for coffee and snacks anymore. Why is it that you are allowing this double standard to occur? You as a board member, Who "supposedly manages" the GM, need to end the dictatorship of Greg Pierce and find someones else who is a better fit for our great community!

To Mr. Canfield. I am extremely happy that you are showing your true colors with the way you are trying to defend all of LL&P's actions. You have proceeded to persecute me about the coffee pot issue. O. K. You say that management took it away because of abuse? Is it too much to ask as an employee to have some coffee? LL&P made it clear that its union workers can't stop and get a cup at the local gas station. Notice I said union workers in the last sentence. That is because I have seen, on many occasions, "management" stop and get what they need. Back to I was saying. How does an employee abuse using a coffee pot to the point where the company needs to take it away? Lets say it takes 5 minutes to make a pot. Then 1/2 a minute to poor a cup (that's a darn slow poor) we are up to 5 1/2 minutes. A pot is good for what... 10 cups? So if the employee drank an entire pot of coffee he would wast 10 min a day! Wow, you should have taken it away sooner!!! Do you and the rest of the LL&P 6 supervisors believe there should be 100% efficiency in its union workers? I would hate to work for you because I would be a robot. I know, you should take the toilet out of the building to. Going to the bathroom really cuts into LL&P's profits. I know this is very sarcastic but really, you are going to tell me that they abused the coffee pot? Come on. How naive do you think the people reading this forum are? And then you say they "should be thankful" for the coffee. My gosh, a company that has a budget in the millions cant afford coffee? Oh wait, I believe there is one in the office. Now it's just a double standard. Office workers and management are a higher class of worker and deserve coffee. But back to your point. Maybe LL&P shouldn't buy some coffee for these two or three workers. As you know that's rate payers money they are wasting, and as a rate payer I would hate to see my money wasted. So I want you to have the General Manager FIRE the second in command, I'm not sure of his title but he ran the old generation shop. I have seen him walking around town on company time many times. This is an outrageous! What is he doing, inspecting the power lines on foot? For getting paid over $41 dollars an hour he better be doing something VERY important!
I am kindly sticking to my original statement. LL&P took a coffee pot out of retribution. You and the powers to be took it because they joined the union.
Now I love your last comment about sticking to the important issues in the contract, O.K. Give these three workers a 7.8% pay increase (that's the average increase you gave your three managers) and bonus of around $1000. Agree to a grievance policy that ends with neutral arbitration, like the police have. Agree not to subcontract their jobs and lay them off Allow them to have a second job, like farming.
There, are those serious enough issues? And by the way, the only reason I mentioned the coffee pot was to show how petty and childish the management at LL&P has become. The same management that you will defend to the end, no matter how bad they screw up.
Another thing while I'm on the subject of defending management, you must have spent hours typing up all of the work that has been performed since LL&P hired Mr. Pierce. Kudo's to you for all of that typing. One question though, who actually did the work? Not Mr. Pierce. No it was those lazy workers who abuse the use of a coffee pot... Where would LL&P be without those hard working employees? I know, LL&P could just subcontract all the work out to outside firms. That would get rid of the union and make all of LL&P's problems go away. Well as a citizen of Lowell and a rate payer I will fight to the end not to see this happen!

The accusation of "outside agitators" is an old, well worn attempt to discredit the person, rather than address the all too uncomfortable questions being asked. Mr. Canfield did a laudable job of saving a building on Main St. at the eleventh hour. Had it been demolished, it could never have been replaced, and Main St. would have looked even more like any other bridge over a river. He created an asset for the town, at considerable expense and personal sacrifice and for this he deserves to be commended. But it also makes clear that he is anything but incompetent. So if it wasn't incompetence that led him to hire Greg Pierce, in spite of the man's obvious shortcomings, what was his motivation? Did he hire him in out of charity? Or did he hire him because of his shortcomings? It's all a question of logic, and Mr. Canfield has yet to answer this question. I don't in the least feel compelled to present myself at a public forum at this time, and I don't feel any need to apologize for using this means of communication. This is not a court of law, and no one has the right to know their accusers. Again, to focus on that, and not the questions at hand is slippery and dishonest. And yes Greg Canfield said unequivocally that the Record Eagle got it wrong based on a false premise; that they used the word "termination", however I pointed out by quoting the source that it was clear Greg Pierce was summarily dismissed; that his letter of resignation was a mere formality. So once again Mr. Canfield, armed with this knowledge, why did you hire him?
I would also add that the use of bright colored type does not correspondingly increase the weight or your arguments. Rather, it is the textual equivalent of hysterical screaming.

Mr. Canfield, I would like you to take notice of how a average intelligent person responds. Maximgorky did not try to put a spin on the response given to you. It was clear and precise. It appears that when you are confronted with a question or a remark that you do not like you respond just like a politician. You give a lengthy explanation without ever answering the question. I am not, nor do I want you to respond to this reply. I have heard enough misconception form your replies to last a lifetime. I would like you to just reply to Maximgorky. Thank you
