Traverse City, Michigan voters turned down the idea of "alternative energy" as too expensive and unsupportable. So after Greg Pierce was fired from his position there, he came to Lowell with an agenda that is just as ridiculous. Yet Lowell is on the brink of just such an experiment, which will be located in the middle of the City. And we never had a chance to say yes or no to this fiasco. Do we really want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars so that Lowell can be the first in the nation to have a Biodigester? And when Greg Pierce received criticism from a Traverse City resident his response was to threaten the person. See the article from the Traverse City Record-Eagle News. So why did we hire this man as General Manager of Lowell Light and Power. He was fired from his position in TC for theft. And why did the LL&P Board of Directors give him a huge bonus and increase in pay? It's about time the residents of Lowell let the City Council know that we are not happy with what is going on in our city. Attachments:

I agree, there should be more discussion and more time for residents to consider this large and very expensive project. It's time the council does their job and puts a hold on this project because who's going to be left holding the bag when the general manager of Light and power is gone? Not him, he doesn't even live in the city!

Back to the matter of this bio-digester, I am also irritated in LL&P about a clear explanation about it and the other generators. What I'm trying to say is all LL&P talked about is this digester but was quite quiet about these two other generators that have nothing to do with the digester. From talking to other residents they had no idea that LL&P was going to purchase and install these. Also what I really can't believe that LL&P when thru with the purchase of these very expensive combustion generators that run on natural gas when the gas company cannot provide gas during the winter months! The supply line isn't large enough to supply all the homes for heat and fuel for the generators. In the board minuets of LL&P an engineer warned and confirmed the lack of fuel before the purchase and still your purchased them!!!! How long is the payback when they can be ran for only half the year? This is ridiculous. I was told they can run on diesel but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that every minute they run on diesel LL&P would be loosing money! What do you have say about that?
