I just found out that LL&P has spent over $20,000 in attorney fees to fight 3 workers! This is preposterous. I am actually at a loss of words. They give a $10,000 bonus, $10,000 salary increase plus another 5% pay increase in the last two years to Greg Pierce. On top of his $475 car allowance and I have heard he also gets 100% of his medical insurance paid for. The board of LL&P agrees to pay all of this compensation after all the mistakes he has made that has cost us consumers now over a million dollars and also knowing about his past in travers city. Then they spend $20,000 to fight three workers! Why are these people on the board and why is Greg Pierce still employed here in Lowell? And why are they so vigorously fighting three workers the right to negotiate a contract when they have no problem with their manager to negotiate his. As far as that goes I might as well add the city to this list because I have heard that they have spent almost as much money in attorney fees as LL&P. So combined they have spent almost $40,000 to fight 10 workers? Once again I am speechless! That money could have fix my road, lowered my tax bill or lowered my electrical bill. And they are not done spending. How much will this cost Lowell when this is all over, $100,000? Maybe more? To fight 10 workers!!!
I'm sorry, I have been as civil as I can be but this is too far. And where is the city council in all of this? I know that many concerns have been brought directly to their attention at council meetings and the councils response, NOTHING! Nothing to corral LL&P's ridiculous spending, even though they approve their budget, nothing to respond to citizens concerns but to say they don't comment at council meetings, nothing when LL&P is in direct violation of city charter!
I mean come on! What is happening to our great town. In just a few short years our city has been turned upside down by these new managers that were hired to advise our leaders to better times and greater moments in our history as a community. What road is the new city manager and the new general manager advising our leaders to take? Since they have been in power I have seen new administration charges added to my taxes, which are some of the highest in kent county and my electrical rates go through the roof!
Well I have had about all I can take. One one hand you have the city that won't say anything and on the other you have LL&P that admits to much wrong doing and wastefulness but doesn't care.
I know that Mr. Canfield and Brightlight are going to get on here and try to convince you that I am wrong but the truth is here. Just read some of the previous threads and reluctantly they have admitted guilt. Now all I hear is back tracking and excuses. Mr. Canfield, you keep telling us and trying to give examples of how great Greg Pierce is but I don't hear these proven problems of other general managers, except those who get fired. Most of your examples are just the normal duties that he was hired to do. In that case start bragging about all of your employees! They do their job every day.
With all of this being said I only have one more question. Who is worst on the block? LL&P or the city? It's like it is a competition to see who can out do each other!
I don't know how to end this because of my frustration, so I'm just done!
