Lowell is not like other communities! Many people from other areas can't believe how people come together to support each other and the great events that are offered to bring everyone together. I was very upset after reading the Buyer's Guide article about negotiating a contract with the City Workers. This has NEVER been an issue in Lowell to my knowledge. Why can't both sides come together and make an agreement? The workers, the council and the management. The main issue is that one person wants to make all the final decisions. We don't live in that kind of world anymore, unless it's a business that you own. I believe the city workers make Lowell look awesome!!! People that I know come to Lowell and can't believe the friendliness and how nice our city looks. We want our city to be what it has always been. The workers aren't asking for much they just don't want one person to make the final decision! What's wrong with that? It's not just one person that makes the city run. It's several dedicated people. Why can't their opinions matter? The workers are dedicated and have a lot of knowledge on what works and doesn't from years of experience. All of a sudden someone comes in and wants to change it. I don't think we need that kind of change. We need a leader to guide, encourage and work side by side with the employees. These people have been invested in Lowell for years. The days are gone when just "ONE" was in charge!!! Where is the city council? The people that were elected to represent the citizens of Lowell. It is their job to get involved and listen to all the people. I hope this matter can be resolved with a reasonable agreement for all soon!!
