It sounds like the city manager is trying to steal a $60,000 idea from Al Mathews, according to the article in the Lowell Ledger about the lime removal at the city water plant. The first article on page 1&2 makes it sound like every thing is fine between the city manager and Mathews but in the second article on the second to last page Al explains he "is very disappointed" and "slapped in the face" by Mark Howe, our city manager. Why would Mark do that to Al? I also heard that the burm Mark wants to build would cost $30,000. That's almost half the cost of Al's quote for lime removal and still doesn't remove any lime! It doesn't make any sense. Just pay Tip-Top Gravel the $67,000 and get the job done.
